Hi - can anyone tell me an easy/quick way to utilise the loudspeaker when
making a call. At the moment I find that I have to dial the number, then
when the call is in progress I press 'options', and then page through to
'loudspeaker'. Is there an easier way?
Many thanks in anticipation.
Colin :-)

When you are taking or making a call, to the right of the word MENU, you
SHOULD see the word LOUDSPEAKER. I'll leave you to work out the rest.....

Hi again, when I make a call, the only words to the right of MENU are 'End
Call'.
The problem only arises when I make the call, as when I accept a call by
pressing the menu up button, it automatically goes on to loudspeaker....
Sorry if I am missing something obvious, the handbook is not much help.
Colin :-)

It SHOULD say END CALL only until the call is actually connected...then it
should say LOUDSPEAKER. On mine it does anyway. Sorry

I think OP would like to see the button work to turn on the
loudspeaker right from the start. I would like that too. Now I have to
wait until I SEE I'm connected and then can turn on the speaker.
Ending a call is done by pushing the red-hook-button, so I do not see
any reason why it should work the way it does now.

Why would you want the LOUDSPEAKER to work before there is anything to hear?

Hi again - this issue seems to be getting a bit cloudy. I want to dial a
number and speak and listen to the loudspeaker. At the moment I have to make
a call, then ask the other end to hang on whilst I turn on the speaker. Not
very satisfactory.

Ok, let me tell you the way it works on my 63230. At the moment I have MENU
in the middle, BLUE TOOTHmenu on the right buttonI set it to be there in
SETTINGS, PHONE SETTINGS) and GoTo on the left.
If I dial a number everything clears from the screen apart from End Call on
the left hand side. When the call is actually connected I then ave MENU in
the middle, OPTIONS of the left and LOUDSPEAKER on the right.
If you press the OPTIONS button on the left you could activate the
loudspeaker that way...Press OPTIONS then the middle button once....hey
presto, LOUDSPEAKER! Good luck!

You don't have to wait until the other end picks up the call. Instead,
you may push the Loudspeaker button as soon as the other end starts
ringing.

YES, YES, YES - this is how it's meant to work...

If it don't, then it's probably a case of operator error....(and I don't
mean the cellular supplier when I say operator).

It can't work any other way - the cellular connection has to be made
(ringing tone must be heard) before you can turn on the speaker.

You can't turn on the speaker before dialling - cellular coms just doesn't
work this way...

What do you expect to hear - a dial tone?!!!!?

You mean, they've designed it not to work any other way. You're not
seriously suggesting it would be, say, against the laws of physics if
they designed a speaker that can be turned on before a connection is made?

Why not? Kindof. The phone would have to generate the buzz that signals
the speaker is on. It could be done easily. If they wanted.

Anyway, it is true, the 6230 does not work this way.

No I wasn't, you are correct - it's designed to work in this fashion.

Dial the call.

When the call is going through (or when the other party answers - not sure
which) rhs key label changes to "Loudspeaker".

Press this key.

If you want to start a call in loudspeaker mode, can't be done.
