Does anyone with a black or aluminum case have experience painting their external drives (floppy, CD-RW, DVD, etc)? Is it possible to remove the faceplates for painting? Has anyone done this? I would be interested in techniques and results. The beige looks so bad sticking out of the black case. Thanks!

Old enough to remember when sex was safe and a personal computer was a slide rule

Yeup, it's easy to take the bezels off, but differs slightly from drive to drive. There are lots of tutorials on how to paint computer stuff, look around on Yahoo for some.

I do, best thing to use is vinyl dye found at your local auto paint store. Just remove the faceplate (if possible, as far as I know some you may not be able to remove), cover up anything you don't want painted (with tape or something), and lightly spray it over and maybe repeat 2 or 3 times after drying. You can prep it if you wish by washing it with soap and water or spraying it with plastic prep, be sure to do it outside, and don't get it on your hands.
