I haven't had the opportunity to try Canon's 70-300m DO IS USM lens. Some
time ago I read a users report that the lens is darn near as good as Canon's
70-300 f2.8 IS lens. Anyone have this lens and care to share info about it?

Do you mean 70-200 f/2.8 IS? (There is no 70-300 f/2.8)

The DO's main claim is being light and compact. It might be fairly
sharp but not in the league of a 70-200 f/2.8.

http://www.bobatkins.com/photograp [...] 300do.html points out
some disadvantages of the lens as he observed them.

Cheers,
Alan

I've been thinking of getting one because it's light and from what I
previously read, it was supposed to almost as good as the 70-200mm F-2.8 IS.
But I'll take a look at the URL you posted and learn something there I hope.
I haven't yet held one so I could try it out.

Thanks again.

It's the image that counts. Try to find phots taken with the lens or
try the lens on your cameras as you would typically use it.

Alan
