Help connecting 2x4 power to 6 pin graphic card

hi am trying to connect my gts450 to my new psu. The card has a 6 pin female on it and my psu only has a 2x4 cable. Please help! can I connect them and have 2pins hanging off the side or something or do I need an adapter?

The 4+4 cable is the 8 pin EPS connector split in to two for ATX compatibility. This goes to the motherboard, not the GPU. The GPU can only be fed by a 6 pin PCIe connector. Some high quality PSUs have 6+2 pin connectors which double as both a 6 pin PCIe connector and an 8 pin PCIe connector.

Do not attempt to use the 4+4 pin connector to power a GPU, it will damage something.
