I have the above mobo set up in a media PC with 2GB RAM and some TV tuner cards. I was running MythTV for quite a while but finally got a bit fed up of things breaking so am trying out MediaPortal on WinXP for a bit. Anyway, I seem to have an issue with this mobo when using a PCI-E graphics card. Under MythBuntu I didn't seem to notice much of a problem but on Win XP I have noticed that I cannot play flash videos (i.e. from YouTube) full screen without major stuttering. I have tried both Chrome and Firefox with same results. Also, in VLC I cannot play HD video without severe stuttering either.
Another symptom of the issue is the way BIOS loads when using the nvidia card rather than the onboard video. This was present when using MythBuntu too. It seems to take ages to paint the text on the screen rather than instantly as you would expect. This happens both on the POST screen and in BIOS setup too. For example, if I change any value in the BIOS set up, the screen takes a couple of very obvious seconds to slowly repaint the whole screen and it is all very laggy. If I use the onbaord VGA out, it seems OK, no lag. I haven't installed the on board video driver in Win XP as I don't want to upset my clean install with conflicting VGA drivers.
I have looked through the BIOS options and I can't disable the on board graphics as such, just change the boot pref for PCIE/PCI/onboard.
BIOS is up to the latest version and I also have the latest nvidia drivers. I've also tried an 8600GT with exactly the same results. Anyone got any advice?
