You need to open your case and look at your Motherboard, it will have the model printed on it or download CPU-z and it will do the same thing without having to open the case.

Now, to answer your question, yes, PCIE 3.0 Video Cards are backwards compatible and will work on PCIE 2.0

None that you'll notice. The performance difference between 3.0 & 2.1 is about 1%.
