Are ATA/100 hard drives backwards compatible with the ATA/66 interface.. i.e. can i install an ATA/100 rated hard drive in a computer that only has an ATA/66 controller and expect everthing to work ok? Please answer or point me to good information on this topic. Thank you.

If using an ATA/100 drive in an ATA/66 interface, you will be limited to 66 mb/sec instead of 100/mb sec is what I think arrow was trying to say. But since even the fastest ATA drives have yet to be able to transfer 66 mb/sec, it would only matter if using more than one drive in RAID, in which case you would need a RAID interface anyway.
