My Current PC -

Platform: LGA775
Case: Raidmax Smilodon
CPU: e6750 @ 2.66
PSU: Corsair TX850
GPU: GTX 260
RAM: 6gb DDR 2
HDD: 1tb
MoBo: MSI p6N SLI

I was thinking about Building my next PC and was Pretty sure i wanted 1155 (z77) with...

Platform: 1155,z77
Case: Haf X Blue edition
CPU: i5 3570k
Cooler: CM Hyper 212 evo
RAM: Corsair Vengeance ddr 8gb
PSU: Corsair HX750
GPU: MSI gtx 670 or Asus, maybe 680
SSD: ?
Hdd: 1tb minimum
Mobo: Asus 77-v
Monitor: 23inch samsung syncmaster px2370

Now I was thinking i would build this PC and have it run games at acceptable framerates for atleast 5 years. i dont need to run max settings for ever but for now will be nice, and then i could jump platforms to either haswell or w.e is after that , and only have to buy new mobo, cpu, ram 4-5 years from now.

OR

should i buy the parts when i can that are not Platform Dependent and just wait for haswell?
just looking for some advice, and thank you in advance :wahoo:

Future proofing is a myth lol, most builders don’t like the concept. Build looks good and go with the MSI,ASUS or evga 670 not the 680. 2 years from now get another MSI,ASUS or evga 670 to match for SLI and more fans to keep system cool after Ocing everything and there’s your 4 or maybe 5 years if you’re lucky :)
