Low noise GTX 660ti?

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

Hey I'm looking for a quiet GTX 660ti and was wondering if anybody knows any cheap/quiet models. Idle sound is the most important for me as I sleep next to my computer.

At the moment I'm looking at

£214 Asus: http://www.ballicom.co.uk/90yv0362m0na00-asus-gtx660-ti...

£222 MSI: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-msi-gtx-660-ti-oc-28...

£232 Gigabyte: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/2gb-gigabyte-gtx-660-ti-...

Any thoughts and comments would be much appreciated, thank you.

a lot depends on your case too. I have the MSI gtx660ti PE 2G edition and I can barely hear it at all. I have the hfx full tower case and even with all the fans in that i can barely tell that my PC is on. I O/C'd my vid card last night and in doing so cranked up the fan speed to 60% and I could then hear it but at normal speed in a similar case I doubt you'd hear anything.

Pretty much all 670s come quiet and cool outta the box. The power edition and Asus direct cu II models would be my choice. But do you plan on running multiple monitors

I start to hear my GTS 450 at around 55% fan speed, I could probably get away with setting lower fan speed profiles since it only gets to about 56c but since I'm gaming when it does reach thoughs temps i'm not too bothered.

I had to crank my volume up to hear most of them

The Asus is pretty temping at the moment, It's the cheapest of the 660 ti cards at £214 and the quietest. Should it overclock pretty well? I'm struggling to find any overclocking results on this card. The "DirectCU-II Standard" version

The £233 MSI 660 ti power edition has a 1019mhz base clock and a 1097mhz boost and some OC head room. (maybe about +2-300 memory clock and around +1-200mhz base clock)

By the looks of the review of Asus GTX 660 ti on the reviews on the link you sent they got a faulty board, they said it crashed 10 times and they sent it back to get a replacement.

It also goes on to say "we're not particularly confident in the benchmark results this board spat out." the results was trailing behind the competitors boards (even thoughs at the same clocks)

Just ordered the Asus card... Hope it's not mislabeled! £217 is extremely cheap for an Asus GTX 660 ti lol... although the Model number is right and I actually bought my entire system from the site due to low prices! :D
