Does anyone know if the commentary track on the recent "Escape from New
York" 2-disc DVD is the same track that was on the laserdisc? Or is it a new
commentary?

If you mean John Carpenter and Kurt Russell's commentary, then that
was directly ported over from the LD. The new DVD has a newer
commentary from the producer, Debra Hill, and production designer, Joe
Alves.
