I'm thinking of building a comp. with an i7-3820 and I will save up for an HD 7970 to go along with it. If I get a really low-end card like an hd 5570 will it affect my performance when rendering? (Note: I wont be doing any gaming until I get the 7970.)

rendering what? if you will use it only for video viewing, i think that you can stay with the integrated intel HD 4000 for normal use until you get the 7970...

Sorry I meant rendering as in doing some heavy 3D rendering. And btw there is no integrated graphics with the i7-3820

Yea, true, that cpu don't have integrated gpu, made a confusion with the name.

probably a low-end card will take some more time to render images but it should do the job. by the way have you considered some specific render GPUS? like QUADRO?
