I cannot access my secured network b/c my pw doesn\'t work on laptop, although it does work on iPad. I get message that pw needs 40 or 104 bits104 bits

it sounds like you are using WEP wireless mode

I would change to WPA2 mode it is more secure and easier to manage/connect to
