Anyone doing digital senior portraits? How are you getting foil embossed
names added to the corners? I haven't seen any printing service that does
digital printing AND the foil embossed names. If you're just adding it in
PS, are you encountering any resistance in the marketplace due to the lack
"feel" in that area?

TIA,
George

I was until I sold the business in Sept of last year.

We didn't. Never did foil emboss the names. For a period we embossed the
business name, but never the seniors name.

Don't know of any.

That's the way we did it. Added a drop shadow, and/or other effects to the
name. Kid's liked it, parents liked it. We tried to make every name/style
unique by picking up the color of the eyes, or shirt etc.

Is that an old-school thing, and did they do it old-school by embossing
with a stamp (linotype?) and rubbing in the foil?

I've seen enough wedding annoucements with foil/engraved lettering; they
even do the friggin' paper napkins. But the places that do those, of
course, tool up for a run and it's the same engraving. But maybe they
can do photo paper, and maybe they can do it per-name, and maybe they
can actually get it right (every one of my yearbooks has several names
on the wrong photos.)

I'd like to know how that foil-embossing is done, that is, if it's done.

Nothing prevents the addition of genuine embossing after the print is made.
