Hi guys, I am just wondering, does switching from VGA to HDMI increase the max resolution your monitor can use? I have a 23 inch monitor (well, it's actually a HD ready T.V) and it only goes up to 1360x768, is that normal for 23 inches?

What I'm asking is, will getting a new video card and using a HDMI cable allow me to use a larger resolution so that I therefore benefit more from the graphics card?

Thanks.

No. The resolution you can game at is dependent on the maximum resolution of the HDTV/Monitor. It doesn't matter if your graphics card can display at a higher resolution.

Note: Some HDTVs do have different resolutions for VGA and HDMI connections, but neither resolution will exceed the HDTV's maximum resolution.
