Hey all, just tried to but my lappy (an old acer aspire) & get nothing, I don't even reach the bios! I doubt it's a hardware problem as it worked fine yesterday, I tried the usual (booting from a disk) and still got nothing, I'm a linux user and pretty tech savy. I've read that it could be something to do with the CMOS. Any suggestions?

1. Unplug laptop and then pull the battery from the laptop. Let the capacitors drain for a few minutes then reinstall battery. See if that resets it.

2. Give us a bit more information.... Do you see any power lights come on when you try to power on ? Does the screen show any of the BIOS splash messages? Can you hear the hard drive spin up ? IF the screen gets messages, what are the last ones you saw ?
