Kurtis Bahr just sent my Pioneer 704 back to me. Fantastic job and
reasonable price for the repair. He was also very patient and helpful
in answering any questions I've had over the last couple of years.
Thanks Kurtis!!

I'll add my recommendation as well. Kurtis did a great job with an
HLD-X9.
He wasn't just helpful...he was completely thorough. I'd rather send
a player to Kurtis for repair than bring it to a local service center
anyday!

If the price of fixing it is going to be expensive then your probably
better off buying an used one off Ebay.

Once you get ahold of Kurtis, you should ask him how much he charges
to modify your D703 with an AC3 RF output, so you can play DD 5.1
(assuming that you want to get a demodulator). The cost is definitely
worth it if you have many AC3 LDs IMHO. I had my CLD-3070 player
modded by Kurtis, and he did an excellent job!

Mike Manulik at Austin Stereo Service repaired machines for us at Encore for
years. He is one of the few service/repair persons that I have ever
recommended. He is totally knowlegable and honest. If its not worth the
repair he will let you know.
