Graphics Card: GTX 480 Overclocked (900 Core mhz, 2000 memory mhz) (Watercooled with a modded Antec 620)
I am currently in a strange situation concerning my GPU as it heats up way too much. Currently, my GPU heats up to 71 C underload (Water cooled), and 40 C idle, which is very high. Before, about a month ago, my temperatures would be maybe 40 C idle and max 55 C on load.
When playing Battlefield 3 my temperature increases from 40 to 63 C in a matter of minutes, and then from 63 to 71 in 10 minutes. Now I can tell that my graphics card is overheating because it's giving me visual artifacts. I haven't had this issue before. I've rolled back a few drivers and tried new drivers, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I even underclocked my GPU to near stock levels, and it still overheats. I've re-seated the CPU cooling block and applied new thermal paste, no effect. I'm using MSI Afterburner to overclock my graphics card.
This problem is not bound specifically to Battlefield 3, it occurs with many games. In the past month, I've only changed my CPU cooler to a Hyper 212 Plus to reduce CPU heat (I'm pretty sure this isn't the problem since, the GPU was running fine for some time before the overheats).
