Make linksys router an access point

Hi all. I recently got AT&T's DSL service, and the Gateway that they hooked me up with, the wireless signal I'm getting is terrible. So I was hoping it would be possible to hook up my linksys router to be used as an access point. I've attempted to figure it out myself, but no sites or guides that I come across are seeming to help. So at this point I'm wondering if it's even possible.
Gateway: 2Wire DSL Gateway Model 2701HG-B
Wireless Router: Cisco Linksys E2500
Any help is greatly appreciated, as I am truly at a loss.
