Hi,
I am purchasing a new graphics card, I am unsure wether to get Gigabyte Windforce 3x hd 7870 or Gigabyte Windforce 3x hd 7950.

I will be using the card for playing Skyrim, Minecraft and a few other less demanding games. (I would like ot be able to run both games at max settings, at a full hd resolution)

7870 would be more than enough for those games. Even a 7850 would get 60+ FPS at full settings on Skyrim.

What would the price/performance be like comparing the two? Also, the 7950 has faster memory and it has 3gb but the 7870 only has 2gb

7950 gets my vote i would go for Sapphire's HD 7950 Vapor-X comes with a large dual-fan cooler that uses the company's famous vapor-chamber technology. On the Vapor-X you will also find a "Lethal Boost" button which switches to a second BIOS with higher clock speeds. With this BIOS, clocks are increased to 950 MHz GPU and 1250 MHz memory.

IMO yes a 7870 cannot max out all games a 7950 pretty much can ;)  for the games your intending to play a 7870 might be fine
