New gaming rig

Ok, I'm in the process of planning out a new build to bring me up to date with modern gaming, and so far I have this setup planned:

CPU: INTEL Core i5 Ivy Bridge 3570K

RAM: Corsair 1600mhz 2x 4Gb

Video: AMD Radeon HD7850

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-D3H (trying to work out whether I need this, or can go with the cheaper GA-Z77-D3H)

Is this a good build? This will be my first time assembling a computer myself, so I'm nervous of making a costly mistake, and with the amount of reading I'm doing It feels like all the numbers are blending together. :P

Anyway, I'll really appreciate and advice or criticisms you have.

Anyway, budget is 550-600 Euro, And I'm re-using the shell of my old system (monitor, harddrives, PSU) PSU is a G7 Power Extreme at 680 watts.

Will you need a case? Or are you going to re-use your old case? Also, do you need an optical drive and an operating system?
