Nikon 18-70 or Sigma 18-125 for D70?

Has anybody done a comparison and if so what's your assessment? Pop
Photo's chart (Feb05) gives the Sigma high marks for sharpness. I don't
know if PP tested the Nikon. My priority right now is fast AF, and
people say the Sigma is slow. Well, is the Nikon fast and at least as
sharp as the Sigma? Thanks.

I have seen a lot of bad reviews from this lens by the time i got this lens this was only my budget can afford i did not even try checking the reviews but when i tested it i was surprised with the results i got. sharpness is perfect, the colors are great and i noticed a bit of vignneting but it was negligible. i guess i just got a better copy than the others i will never recommend this lens for a canon Camera because its not sharp enough for me on Canon Cameras but if your using Nikons its the best beats the Nikkor 18-105,24-125,equally great like the 18-135 with less distance of 10mm but with a metal mount( a big plus) .18-70, 18-135 is made in thailand this is made in Japan. for this focal length i did not need the VR of the other lenses so teh lens is perfect. i will definitely recommend this lens to anyone using Nikon cameras. its a 5 star lens for me.
