OK. Im building my first computer from the ground up. I plan on Crossfiring my 2 Sapphire 6950 Dirt 3 editions. I have a AMD FX-4170. 2 sticks of Corsair VENGEANCE (total of 8 GB). My motherboard is a GA-990FXA-UD3. A Seagate 160 GB @ 7200 rpm. A multicard reader(internal). 1 Samsung DVD writer (internal) I DO NOT plan on overclocking ANYTHING. Im scared of hurting my comp.

Solution

Hmmm yah youre right about the PCIe Power connections. The Corasir only has 2

those 6950 DIRTS will need ~160 watts each
the FX-4170 125 watts @ stock
RAM 4 watts a stick
motherboard 15 watts
HDs, DVD drive and reader ~10 watts each (actually lower but i am rounding up)

(160*2)+125+(4*2) +15 +(10*3)= 498 watts to keep the max load under 80% of the PSU 498/.8= 622.5 watts
you do need FOUR six pin PCI power connections:
XFX 650W PRO650W Core Edition $75.48
After Mail In Rebate: $65.48 USD

if you later decide to overclock, that can add ~75 more watts:
XFX 750W PRO750W Core Edition $89.99
After Mail In Rebate: $74.99

not sure. Went with an amazon purchase. more options for a comparable price so Im pleased. XFX psu's are getting rave reviews so...check it out and recommend. I have a feeling I wont be let down.
