My system has not gone much change except for buying a new hard drive.
My operating system is Windows Xp SP3.

Need to upgrade this video card so that i can upgrade form Windows XP to Windows 8 and also, watch high definition movies which currently do not render well.

More about looking suitable graphics card system
  1. a radeon hd6450 would do the job well enough for hd video as well as blu ray playback and streaming video. its a great htpc card
  2. Entry Level GPU would do. 6450 maybe. But I would consider a whole system upgrade, to an AMD APU or intel with HD graphics.

    +1
  4. +1 on entry level. I use the geforce 210 for my htpc, it's very cheap.. Anyway, any video card out there will let you watch hd movies.
  5. Thank you all for your responses.... I am assuming that these suggested video cards will automatically be good enough for Windows 8. Correct me if I am wrong?

Btw, how should I go about finding the optimum video card for my system by myself? Any tip is welcome. :)

Will consider that in future!! My laptop is just one year old , so right now I won't be able to spend much.
