Connecting acer monitor

I have an Acer monitor connected to my Acer Laptop 5552. It was working fine, but then stopped working. Consequently, I must use the smaller display on the laptop. How do I get the images back to my monitor?

There is a function key to switch between internal / external / both monitors.
