Looking with upgrading my graphics card and I was about to order the 7870 until somebody brought up the fact that if you are playing games such as; BF3, Borderlands 2, Skyrim (which are all games I will be playing primarily) that it's better to go Nvidia. How much of a difference is there really? The GTX660's are a little out of my price range. Suggestions?

Get the 7870. It's a better card overall, and can be over clocked to wreck the 660.

Also, I'm not sure if the deal is still here, but the 7850 was like $160 a few days ago, if that's the case, I would just get the 7850.

7870 and GTX660 are the same price. You might have been comparing the Ti version. Right now the cheapest 7870 and GTX660 are both $210 after rebate on newegg.

Between the two, the 7870 is a hair faster in general, but the GTX 660 does do better in certain games (like BF3). They are close enough competitors that it probably doesn't matter that much which you choose.

You can overclock the GTX660, too.

The 7870 is faster in skyrim and bf3. The 660 is faster in borderlands. With the latest drivers:

skyrim_1920_1200.gif

the 7870 beats even the 660 ti

bf3_1920_1200.gif

about 8% faster than the 660

borderlands2_1920_1200.gif

in an nvidia sponsored game, the 7870 is significantly slower than the 660.

i think the 7870.Because its compute performance.Even though you arent paying for it.But i think that i would rather have the advantage of having compute performance available.
Its like when i buy a product i should be able to use the product to the extent of the fullest.

You'll be fine. Antec is a reliable brand, and I have one of the antic earth watts myself, and they run fine. Enjoy your new card mate :)
