im only getting 40 fps or lower on a 1280x1024 monitor? i dont understand how a gtx 670 can be hurting from minecraft at this low of resolution, does it have anything to with the fact that im downloading arma 2 and origin and dirt 3? cant be the proccesor, its an i5 3570k. what would it be. im getting massive lag spikes, and it was working fine last night when it was downloading all that stuff, would it have anything to do with me moving minecraft from my ssd to my hard drive?

The 600 series has terrible compute performance and monecraft runs on opengl. Sorry bro. However how much ram do you have?

Hmm I really don't know. Maybe some files are still on 2 drives so it is trying to read a lot of things that aren't close to each other at once. Your RAM is fine. Btw my mobile GT 130m got around 120 FPS on minecraft maxed out so the 6xx might really just suck with opengl. Idk something is up...

When I play Minecraft with GPU-Z open to the side I can see that the GPU is clocked down at its idle clock speeds as it doesn't need to go any higher for the game in question.

I only get about 60-70 fps but it's because it is running at a lower clock speed. If you force on v-sync through the Nvidia control panel you may be able to get it to lock at 60 fps or whatever your monitor's refresh rate is.

Like what CaptainTom said he got something like 120 fps with a gt 130M, whereas with my 560TI I would get something like 300. I think it's down to the new architecture of GK104 and the 6xx series GPUs.

Funny, I get 200+ on MC all the time and hit 400 fps usually. Maybe it was the downloads and the fact that minecraft runs better on a hdd? Idk, just curious. Btw, that is an amazing 670 and a great card. I have one and it's a beast!

I don't know if it's a coincidence that all three of us have the exact same card, I just assumed the low fps was down to the GPU downclocking itself.

GTX 670 and 1280x1024 monitor? Overkill to say the least

Could be the HD as minecraft is constantly generating and saving, have you tried without the downloads or moving back to your SSD?

ok, i got minecraft working properly, now getting 150+ fps, turns out i copied the files from my ssd to the hard drive instead of moving them, so for some reason it was slowing down cause it was probly trying to decide which files to use. ill still try with dirt 3 and/or cs:go when they download and post the results just to make sure

That game is still in its alpha stage.I expect radical bug fixes and performance optimizations to come.Good thing you got your key though.

facepalm i forgot i wasn't running sli at the time that was with one card i was pretty depressed about those results for nothing
