Hi all,
I'm using a Cypress generic driver for USB and a custom USB device, the
devices and the drivers work fine since two years in each Microsoft OS, but
two days ago a person called me because his WindowsXP Home edition did not
find the device driver so I said him to reinstall the driver but with not
success.
Browsing the DeviceManager window there is an UnkownDevice item and in the
propriety there is the following sentence:

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."

The INF and SYS file are installed correctly and the device answer correctly
when the OS ask it the device configuration, as well through an utility that
use the "DeviceIoControl" DDK functions can I handle the USB HWID.

I suppose there is a problem when the OS looking for the INF file associated
with the device.

Other notes:
- The USB port works correctly with other peripheral such mouse and printer.
- The INF file has not the Microsoft Signature.
- The PC is a Futjitsu-Siemens laptop, Amilo in details (P4 with USB 2.0).
- The device has been correctly installed in a PC with Win98

If someone has an answer or a suggestion please reply me.

Thank you in advance

Eventually got round to installing Sony Ericsson stuff!
Still had Code28 problem, just went back a couple of weeks to system restore, problem solved!
Still don't know what Code28 is, sorry!
