Hello
I have a zotac gtx 660. When i was playing ghost recon future soldier the system restarted automatically and while playing nfs most wanted 2012 the game hangs after few minutes of gameplay and same happens for arkham asylum. A blue screens appears the it reboots automatically. i ran furmark without any problem for 30min as said by manufacturer for testing the gpu and i ran with temp upto 86°c . but whenever i try to play any games it crashes after few minutes and a blue screen appears and the system restarts. I dont know were the problem is pls guide me.

furmark will stress just the 660 but not the rest of the system. when you are playing a game the total system power will be greater.

a quality 450 watt psu can just get by with those specs but not a cheap one.

Hmm... the only other reason I can think of is a faulty chip. Your system specs look decent, and no bottlenecking from your cpu.

can you find a corsair, antec, xfx or seasonic?

the least amount of money would be a corsair CX430 v2.

what country you at?

that is true but a driver problem would not send the system to restart.

PS could be under powered ?..... try reducing the physx in the nvidia control panel or shutting it off completely. play. what happens ?

if you built this yourself......... are you sure the heat sink is sitting flush on the processor ?... you installed that while the mobo was out of the case ? and you physically saw the pins push through and lock ?

Ya i built it myself....... heat sink is placed well and all the pins pushed back and locked perfectly.
yup i installed it when the mobo was out.

Lowest PSU for gtx 660 is 450 w.

I got a bronze 80+ certified 700w PSU and I got none of those problems. I'm running Inno3d iChill gtx 660, and my Card gets hella hot too! I get like 83*C in Saints Row 3. It seems like the gk 106 is a chip that gets pretty hot.

either of those will work
MSI GeForce GTX 660 HAWK review
Our test system is based on a power hungry Core i7 965 / X58 system.
that will use more power than your system.
Measured power consumption

System in IDLE = 135 W
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 239 W
Difference (GPU load) = 104 W
Add average IDLE wattage ~10 W
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 114 Watts

GeForce GTX 660 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450~500 Watt power supply unit.

your i7 system will need ~10 amps of 12 volt or 120 watts. that card will use 114 watts or 9.5 amps of 12 volts for a combined total of 22 amps of 12 volts.

now it is best to keep it under 80% of the load so: 22/.8= 27.5 as the minimum amperage on the 12 volt rail.

so either PSU will work, if you can afford the 500 watt it would be better to allow a little room for comfort, but not necessary since with a h77 motherboard you are not overclocking.

your 450 watts zebronics psu was the culprit am pretty sure. zebronics is a terrible choice for psu and is one of the worst brands you can buy.
i dont know what compelled you to skimp on the psu because you otherwise have a good system.
this time get a good quality corsair or antec psu.
and please tell all people you know to never buy such local cheap products because the more people buy such third rate products the more they will produce
too an extent i too have made the same mistake this time as my budget was already pretty low so i chose this psu. plz tell me if this psu is atleast enough to power my sig rig and not blow up anytime soon ?

the best psu for your system with i7 will be corsair TX 650 watt(enthusiast series)...and if you really want that your system will last long i would tell you that you have to use branded psu with high quality component..corsair are famous for there PSU's and RAM...so i know it will be expensive for you but at best it will make your system stable and more future proof....
also you can go with Corsair GS600..its also a good deal
here look at these
