Probably mid 2nd quarter after they see AMD. They probably have all the stuff down but they wait to see AMD's stuff and make tweaks to try and beat them. Which sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't.

So an end of 1st quarter release? That's closer than usual. That's just a month away from the AMD release. I wonder who'll seem to come out on top at the start. I think it may be AMD. I think that next year'll be interesting to say the least.

for all i know nvidia big K is ready. if they want to they can paper launch geforce gk110 right now lol. but i think they will wait for amd to make a move first. if amd cant make cards that are much faster than 7970 the speculation about gk114 being the next 780 might come true

I think that to. nVidia likes to hang back so that they can make tweaks to their cards before they hit shelves to to try beat AMD.

sweet thank i guess I'll hold off on that new workstation then. and i agree with lime as far as nvidia hanging back a few or was that radeon that tried that last time? i dont remember though, i think the 7850s came out first then the gtx 680 then the 7970s

very far off, 7900 came out in January, 7800 in February and the 680 was in april.

@above, I wouldn't say its "new" architecture, its more like upgrades on a previous architecture on both sides:

i.e 6k series was update on 5k series, gtx 500 series was an update on fermi 400 series. more or less updates on GCN for AMD and Kepler for Nvidia
