Cisco E1200 Router: Security Issue With Guest Account

Hello,

My friend was able to access my internet connection via my guest account WITHOUT having to enter the guest password. He was able to connect using a samsung galaxy phone with the android OS. However, when I connected to my guest account using my blackberry, I WAS asked for the guest account password. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how this could be happending?? I've temporarily disabled the guest account until I can get this resolved.

If your wireless connection is unsecured, it can be accessed by any wireless device without going through your computer at all, let alone the Guest account.

Get it secured, hide the SSID and don't settle for WEP - go for WPA2.

Hello, thanks for your response. The router is secured! This is why this doesn't make sense.

Seems to me that his Android was tethered via USB and was giving the computer a connection, completely independent of your router. When you tried to connect your Blackberry, you were trying to share the laptop's connection through the router so you had to enter the password.
