Budget PC

Hi, everyone. I'm looking to build a budget PC and wondered whether you could (1) review what I've got so far:

Radeon HD7750 2GB (Want at least 2GB)

G.Skill 16GB RipjawsX DDR3 2x8GB 1600MHz

I5 2400 3.1 ghz (Sandy is non-negotiable)

GIGABYTE GA-H61M-DS2V Intel H61 LGA1155 (Seems ok with i5 1155, 1600mhz 16gb RAM and GPU)

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB

(2) I'd like to ask as well if 550W from other older PC would be enough for this build? If not, what budget PSU would you recommend?

Will be used mostly for gaming.

Kind regards,

  1. What is the use of this PC? If its gaming you will want a lesser processor and a much better GPU.

    And half as much RAM.
  3. What would you recommend regarding lesser CPU/RAM and better GPU while keeping the same price?
  4. if you are gaming get an i3 3220 and the best gpu you can stuff in. Get 8gb RAM.

If you list your budget and intended use of the machine I can put something together for you.
  5. 450-500$ (max). Thanks.

With or without Windows? Ah heck, I'll just assume without. If your 550W power supply is decent quality that can also be reused. Otherwise, you can add a 550W XFX PSU for cheaps:

  7. OK, thanks a lot, Sakkura. Will this card perform better than the one I listed? I'm worried about just a gig of video ram.
  8. Yes. The Radeon HD 7750 will run out of GPU muscle long before it runs out of VRAM. But if you can afford to step up to a 2 GB version of the 7850 that's not a bad idea. PowerColor's seems like a good deal:

  9. A 7750 will never even use 2gb of VRAM. Its mostly a marketing thing. You don't even need more than a gig VRAM until you get up past a 7850 and use multiple monitors. a 1gb 7850 will double the performance of a 2gb 7750 any day.
