Pci express 2.1 x16 ddr3 support vs ddr2 pci express x16 1.0

Hello,
I have a 256 ddr2 (PCI-E x16 1.0) MSI video card that has crashed and i want to change it with another one that has 1024 GDD3 (PCI-E x16 2.1). Are there compatibility issues ?

It should be ok. Higher numbered versions of PCIE are meant to be backwards compatible with the lower numbered versions. It is always worth checking with the motherboard makers to check though.
