For the copyright symbol © use hold down Alt and type 0169 on you number pad.

On the D70 *camera*? The original question (still reflected in
the "Subject: " header) is how to enter this symbol into the camera
"comments" field. And since it would appear that the camera does not
implement the 8-th bit extended version of ASCII, that is not an option.
(7-bit ASCII is limited to what you see on the keycaps, with the
exception of the lower-case duplicates of the upper-case markings on the
keycaps.

And -- this is a function of what computer you are using, and
what OS. It certainly does not work in this way on my Sun Ultra-2 with
Solaris 10 as the OS.

Working from my memory that e-accent is entered by typing

[Compose] e '

I decided to try:

[Compose] c o

and got © (which happens to show on my screen as '\251' while in my
editor, though it shows as the copyright symbol when viewed by listing
the file to the screen.)

A different choice of editor (one not limited to 7-bit ASCII by
design, as it is for programming) allows me to see them as I type them.

But -- be warned that not all systems will display these
characters identicallly -- so it is better to avoid them in usenet
articles, which are, by their nature, read by people with a wide variety
of machines.

Enjoy,
DoN.
