I just became aware that Windows 2000 and XP were designed to have different cards sharing the same IRQ. That this IS NOT a problem if you have either of those 2 operating systems. Can anyone confirm this? I have win ME, has anyone heard of win ME designed to allow sharing of IRQ's???

Currently my sound and video card share IRQ 11. System is 3 months old and so far no problems or crashes. Works fine.

PCI bus are designed not to use IRQ but PCI device uses shareable "Interrupt Channels" labeled "INTA," "INTB," "INTC," and "INTD."

As far as I now Windows 98/ME/XP all support sharing IRQ's.
I have Windows 98 and some IRQ's are shared without giving problems. It's normal to share some IRQ's, but if it gives problems then you have to do something about it.

My case has so many fans that it hovers above the ground  .

All operating systems from Win95B OSR-2 and up support IRQ sharing.

If the devices are sharing an IRQ, and you have no problems, that is a good example of successful IRQ sharing.
