What is an akamai net session?

I talked with a Microsoft support guy and he said its not legit and most likely a remote access program that can control your pc. I had this once before and uninstalled it and I haven't had any problems. I started this thread because my sister has it popping up on her pc after downloading some music. Told her to uninstall it.
