Graphics Card at ~$150

My old 4350 has failed (possibly due to my overclocking), and now I'm looking for a new card at around $150, something that can run games at medium resolutions and settings. Here are my specs:

CPU: Pentium Dual Core E5500 (Wolfdale), 2.8GHz
Motherboard: ASUS P5QPL-AM
RAM: 2GB DDR2
PSU: 250W, came with the case :(

Should I get a better PSU, or any other component? I've seen the Radeon 7750 and the GT 640, can I run these with my current hardware?
Also, I can't buy from Newegg, because I'm in India. $150=~Rs.8000
Thank You.

No, I live in Cochin, and it's very hard to find good hardware in the local shops, so I'll probably have to buy online.
  3. flipkart?buy hd 7750 with that 430w psu then:)_
  4. Is it necessary that I upgrade my PSU? Also, I'm very open to suggestions on cards other than the 7750 and the GT 640.
  5. yes u will need to because that psu u have is of bad quality and that cant power the hd 7750 or any good card:)hd 5770,gts 450,hd 6670,hd will be also a good choice:)

if you want a decent graphics card like 7750 or gtx 650 you will need to upgrade your psu. you have no other option. the 7750 is an awesome card, i own it and i know it

this sapphire model is the best 7750 for a good price.
and the cheapest psu upgrade that you would need to power a 7750 is this. i own this one too. its not that good but its cheap but still much better than your stock 250 watt psu.

@ayush did you checked the price at local shop?

what did you say ? you were getting gtx 460 , hd 7770 and hd 6850 for 8000 rs for brand new model in lamington road ? :o
seriously ? i too live in mumbai and i bought hd 7750 for rs. 7500. did i buy it for too much ?

please start your own thread if you wanna post a question.
there is no way you can get a 460 new for that price in india . you can search for a used one though.
for your budget i would suggest a 7750. its hands down the best card for 7000 rs . nothing even comes close except the 550 ti .
but 550 ti is a generation old and consumes more power so 7750 is best :wahoo:

He actually created a new thread. He is right the 460 is too expensive on Amazon. Well yes get the 7750 you can get things done. Check YouTube... Type 7750 then a game. Try Battlefield 3. It runs it quite well for the price ;)

OK, so if I must upgrade my PSU, what are the other cards (ie cards with aux power connectors) in that price range? I haven't looked into any of those yet. Also, the prices on Flipkartare about Rs. 1000 (~$20) higher than those in the local market.

PS: Should I upgrade any other component, like the RAM?
  10. for about 8000 rs you basically have 3 options. a gtx 550 ti, a 7750 or a 6770.
and yes since you only have 2gb or ram i strongly advise you to add another 2 gb for smoother performance
  11. And also some bottleneck but I think the bottleneck shouldn't be much. You should plan on that PSU and the 7750. After some time get a Celeron and a nice MoBo. Here:
    Celeron 2.5GHZ 2,450 INR

    Good MSI motherboard 2,722 INR

    CoolerMaster 430W PSU 1,905 INR:
    http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Elite-Supply-RS460-PSARI3-US/dp/B002G1YPHK/ref=sr_1_2_m?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1352214917&sr=1-2&keywords=CoolerMaster+430

Sapphire HD7750 after rebate 4,900 INR

And to know sipping prices and stuff:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_navbox_596184_tips?nodeId=596188

If you want the FASTEST shipping it will be 3-5 days it will be approx. 1,650 INR.

Total with fast shipping: 13,650 INR which is 250$. :)
  12. yes it will work on 1.1 with no issues.
i suggest the sapphire model coz i.too own sapphire model and its great.
keeps the card really cool and silent

7750 is better than 5770 in that it performs better in dx 11 games , consumes much less power, doesnt require 6 pin power and is the latest generation product based on GCN architecture.
so its worth a little extra money over a 5770 :wahoo:
  16. worth for paying rs 2000 more for 1-5 fps improvement?latest architecture is the one thing which is good their but why would any one pay rs 2000 more for similar card?btw the hd 7750 is just 1-5fps better then hd 5770:)

did you buy from lamington road ? what shop name and which brand 5770 it is ?
hey have you heard the name of " cassette world" shop in lamington road ? i had bought a 5450 from there once for 2000 bucks. and now bought 7750 for 7500 rs . :pt1cable:
  18. no i dont know. i m not rembering the name because i m buying from shop which ever is good and their price are cheap btw gpu was gigabye hd 5770 udv version:)and i will tell u the name tommorrow in pm because i dnt have the bill my freind has the bill i will see the name and will let u know:)
  19. That's weird. I can't find my last post here. Moderators, has it been deleted? :??:
Anyway, what I posted was this: Should I wait for the next set of cards to come out? When are they coming out, and by how much will the prices of the current generation drop?
  20. next gen amd cards can be expected jan-feb next year while nvidia is looking at april-may time frame.
yes current video card prices will drop
why dont you just get a 5770 for rs 5800 as the other guy mentioned ?
    its a good deal
  21. It is but then PSU... You see :)
  22. And are you sure the 8970 will launch Jan-Feb?
  23. yes am sure. i am the one planning the launch dates. lol. so jan maybe or if not then definitely feb
  24. OK, so should I get the 7750 in December, or get a good PSU and a 7770, or should I wait till the next generation is released? Is the 7770 worth the extra money (including the cost of the PSU)? Or what about a PSU and the GTX 550 Ti?
As for Radeons, I'll stick with the 7xxx series.
  25. PSu+ 7770 = best option but costs more money
    no psu+ 7750= best option
    psu + 550ti = bad option
  26. What about the 6790? Yes, I know I just said I'll stick with the 7xxx series, but where does it stand against the 7750 and the 7770? PSU + 6790 seems to cost less than PSU + 7770.

thats because 6790 is weaker than 7770. it goes like this
    7750<6790<7770
  28. Best answer
Just go for the 7750. Anything more than that I think your CPU will start to show bottlenecking. Save the money for the 7770 + PSU and same some for what I have stated up top because that's the cheapest good option. Good luck!
  29. OK, what do you guys think about this:
    GPU: Radeon HD 7750
    RAM: +2GB DDR2 (Therefore a total of 4GB)
Should I get the Sapphire 7750 or the MSI 7750 OC?
  30. Go Sapphire. The MSI one will get hotter because of two TINY fans and it's closed while the Sapphire one is open. Good luck! :)
