80+ efficiency, 2 x 8 pin PCI-E power (6+2) ... that's good.

Have you considered looking at the GTX 600 series or ATI HD 7000 series cards? They have more power efficiency, which is a plus. Take a look to see what there is, shop around a bit and read reviews!

Get a 7850. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150619&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Slightly less performance than the 6990, but better power consumption and the gtx 580 isn't worth it because it's only a small upgrade from the gtx 570, while being at a much higher price.

The HD 6990 will be a lot powerful and push out a lot more frames than the other cards you have mentioned, but this will mean much more power consumption. Sadly your power supply is 50 W short of being able to meet the minimum power requirements for the HD 6990, so it looks like you will need a better PSU for this. Meanwhile the HD 5970 is a quite a bit slower and has a minimum requirement of 650 W but requires one 75W 6-pin and one 150W 8-pin PCI Express power connectors. The GTX 580 is slowest of all you've listed by what I have seen but only needs 600 W but yet again requires one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express power connectors (may come with molex to PCI E power but not sure).

Your PC on the other hand doesn't seem too bad, but the RAM I think could do with being doubled. Also could you tell me the exact model of your PSU?

i saw all the new graphic cards; 7870 isnt better than gtx 580, here is a link:http://www.hwcompare.com/12207/geforce-gtx-580-vs-radeon-hd-7870/, and newest (7950, 7970... are very dearly), and... nvidia cards:gtx 660 ti isnt better than gtx 580, and newest (670, 680, 690...are dearly)... so i will buy :6990(better than 660 ti and gtx 580) or gtx 580 or hd 5970(better than 580 and gtx 660 ti)... i havent psu 700 w, but i will buy it, or i will buy some better for hd 6990... thanks a lot... :) if you find a better graphic card for me, let me know...

HW Compare has theoretical benchmarks. Real performance will vary. It's more about the architecture, efficiency of the architecture and much more.

sorry, i think that is bad card, look:
http://www.hwcompare.com/12052/geforce-gtx-580-vs-radeon-hd-7850/
i think the best solution for me is hd 5970(has great performances:http://www.hwcompare.com/13159/geforce-gtx-660-ti-vs-radeon-hd-5970/), because hd 6990 has ultra power consuption and that is so big cash for me... :)

Quite frankly, if I was to buy a new card I would get either a GTX 660 Ti, GTX 670 or GTX 680. I'm happy with the GTX 560 Ti I've currently got and I feel no need to update.

I don't know what I can recommend for you.

What games do you play?

And stop quoting hwcompare.com. That site is a joke, and is only theoretical and thus useless.

Give us a game list, and we can help more. Also a budget for your spendings.

Those are OK cards. But they are a generation old, in the 5970s case they are 2 generations old.

Meaning they use more power and run alot hotter than current gen cards.

Try to find a GTX 600 series card or Radeon 7000 series card.

a 660 should be minimum for nvidia, 7850 for AMD.

If you can find either of those in your price range you will be good.

Well still, no reason to waste heat and energy. Not to mention those cards are over priced because they are the king of the hill from an older generation, and both manufacturers refuse to lower the price on them for some reason. Its always smarter to go current gen.

yarmock is right, go for the current gen. The current generation of both AMD and NVIDIA cards have improved power efficiency, so it's a plus. You can get either a GTX 660 or GTX 660 Ti at around your budget of €250. You can also find the HD 7850 and the HD 7870 at near the same price.
