SupraSST 56i under Windows XP ?

I have a SupraSST 56i Pro DF modem (PCI).

I recently installed Windows XP. It is recognised as a "Generic 56k Soft modem", but does not work properly. After tone dialing it makes a continuous beeping sound and cannot connect with the ISP modem, which then hungs up.

Diamond does not provide a driver for WinXP and I cannot install any other driver (WinXP denies that).

Is there anything that can be done, or should I buy a new modem?

Find the list of modems it does support and buy one. It will save you a lot of headaches.

I just traded it for an external Micronet Shuttle SP3008E and solved all my problems.

Stay away from PCI software modems!
