I have a 1 year old Compaq PC with a ATI Radeon HD 5450 and 4 gigs of RAM. Recently upgraded to window 8 pro (clean install)
I have dual displays. A 1080P 22" monitor and a HDTV 27" the tv is hooked up via hdmi. I have the displays set to extend in the windows 8 settings.
My issue is with choppy video.
Choppy when streaming flash video (amazon) and choppy when playing an mkv locally using VLN player
Not choppy with anything played in windows media center (live tv, vob files, recorded tv). It runs great.
I uninstalled the radeon driver and uninstalled Catalyst Control Center. upon restart windows found the correct driver and I set my screen resolution.
prior to re-installing CCC I checked and sure enough VLN mkv and internet video play and look great.
My issue is that on my flat screen 27" 720P (i use the hdmi input from radeon 5450) the desktop is cut off set at the native resolution (or i have black bars if I set it lower) , as in the only the top of the task bar icons can be seen. I know how to fix this using the scaling control in CCC but if i install CCC I will get the choppy video issue back.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
