Time for an upgrade. It's been a while coming, even on my old Aiwa headphones the sound was full of static and muffled. I was able to limp by, tweaking every equlizer I could (and having to really adjust settings on my speakers to make up for the Aiwa phones).

The Aiwa headphones broke recently, so I splurged and bought some Sennheiser headphones. Now I had to re-adjust everything, and the best I could do was only tolerable at best. The sound card (an onboard SBPCI64) gives horrible bass, little midrange and, as best I can explain it, shrill highs. I know it's not the headphones as a cd in a decent portable cd player sounds excellent on them. Time to buy a Santa Cruz.
