ok so heres my problem,

my windows xp home edition was fine a while ago,
then i installed sp2 when it first came out,
then i realised that sp2 disabled our small home network
and made my computer run extremely badly, so i rolled back
before to sp1,

after this funnily enough sp was still installed!

so i got sick of it last night so after uninstalling sp2,
it seemed that my cd drives disappeared,

alright so after an incredibly long time trying to find out
how to fix this (microsoft support is very unhelpful)

i finally found out a technique to delete er some filters
in the regedit,

so after doing this i realised :) the drives were back! so
now i could do a clean install of windows xp off my bought cd!

but of course......

i do a clean install, then all seems well i begin
installing all my files again,

i do this get to the part where i connect this computer to
our other one in the next room, then to my surprise now it
seems that my ethernet controller and networking devices
have the problem that the cds have!

now to fix this it tells me to install my drivers that came
with the cd problem is i never got a cd with this computer
for the networking drivers, it was always done in windows!
then it says it will help me it leads me through a dead end
trail of "nexts" and takes me back to the start,

now please i have searched microsoft.com for help and can
find none! i open devices panel and all my "other devices"
have turned yellow, and have this problem,

please help me! please

Open the CD you use to install and explore it. You should find a \drivers
directory or an \i386 directory in the root of the disc that most likely
will have the drivers you need.
