Sharing same Apps and Data in WAN

Hi All,

Just need some information on WAN - How can two different sites (Head Office & Branch) share the same data and applications with each other? Does there need to be a server in place at the Head Office that is connected to the switch?

You need a server to host the applications and to store and share the data, as well as for user security. If it's not connected to a switch how will you communicate with it? Computers have a hard time understanding hand signals and carrier pigeons.
