I think 660Ti is faster.

660ti is faster and I would be leery of sapphire 7870s. They had some capacitor problems and I can't use anything newer than 12.8 with mine.

They're very similar. The 7870 is better in some games, while the 660 Ti is better in others. Overall, the 660 Ti is probably a tiny bit faster.

The 660ti is 300$ but the 7870 is only 240$

The 660ti gives a bit better performance but is a lot more.

I would go for the Gigabyte 7870, Great cooler.

or just get radeon hd 7950 for 300 which blows GTX 660 TI out of the water

I hate it when people use this type of term. The Radeon HD 7950 does not blow the Geforce GTX 660 ti out of the water. Is is, in most situations, a more powerful card, but not by much.

A better example of your statement would be: The Radeon HD 7950 blows the Geforce GTX 650 ti out of the water.

thnx guys is the 192 memory bus of 660 ti would be an issue? And how much is the memory proof of this card? How many years?

If you can wait for a couple of weeks, you can have a 660 ti for $20 less.Nvidia is announcing some price cuts on gtx cards.
http://videocardz.com/34813/nvidia-mulls-price-cuts-on-...

As far as performance goes,a stock 660 ti is always faster than a stock 7870 and often beats the 7950.The factory oc'd msi 660 ti currently retailing for $290 in newegg after rebate is on par with a 7950 boost edition.I recommend you buy it.

For your kind info ..check gpu hierarchy chart by tomshardware based on latest drivers..7950 is in same tier as 670...also 7950 has more overclocking headroom :p

when comparing a 660 ti with a 7950 people often draws the 7950 boost against the 660 ti.The thing is a stock 660 ti performs the same as a stock 7950.
EDIT: My MSI 660 Ti PE/OC gives me an avg of 70-75 fps @ 1080p in BF3 which proves the 660 ti can also scale with higher clock speeds.

the 660ti is slightly better than the 7870 but the 7950 is faster and the boost is faster still.

7870 +5% = 660ti +5% = 7950 + 5% = 7950 boost

^estimates, also techspot put it slightly differently

7870 + 9% = 660ti + 2% = 7950 + 10% = 7950 boost.

depending on the game, it could shift either way.

I believe most of those benchmarks in other websites that show a 660 ti equaling the 7950 were with really old drivers and at stock or low overclocks for the 7950.

AND with low AA...

The new drivers coupled with a virtually guarateed ability to OC to 1000ghz on the core, make the 7950 trade blows with a gtx 670.

No, the techspot benchmarks are based on the latest beta drivers. And when it comes to overclocking you cannot rule out the fact that the 660 ti can OC as well.I easily OC'd my 660 Ti to level/surpass performance of a 670.

By trade blows I mean both overclocked.

Sure you can probably reach stock gtx 670 settings with a 660 ti overclocked.

Problem is you are gonna start suffering massive fps drops as you try to use AA with it, it is bandwith chocked.

7950 is just a better card, especially with its overclocking headroom and newest drivers.

^In some games it does, but not all.
Favourable circumstances can be drawn for the 660 ti also

Here you see a stock 660 ti equalling the performance of a normal 7970.

In the Far Cry 3 bench you can see with all AA on the min fps of both 660 ti and 7970 is the same.

If you can go to the original article of the game gpu site you will see they've used the latest drivers while that techpowerup bench is circulating the web for months.

article? that was just to show how much the 7950 improves with OC. Even if you OC the 680, it won't beat the 7950 OC in general.

Well the OP asked 7870 vs 660 Ti.

660 TI is better than 7870.

Even over 7950 !!

http://techreport.com/review/23981/radeon-hd-7950-vs-ge...

Here is what i was searching for you. Read it ALL !

With new Nvidia Drivers games scaled even higher. So that 660 Ti smokes the 7950.

So this end here : GET 660 TI ..

Good Luck !

The 660 ti is abit faster, and you will get benefit of it in some games over the 7870~7950, since it is based on the gk 104 archi same as 670, 680's......
