Straight from day one of having purchased my computer parts i have had trouble with my computer freezing up during gaming.
The problems i've been having is when i try to play games (on any graphics settings) my computer will lock up and freeze after anywhere between 5 minutes to 3 hours. Usually 5-20 minutes but on the odd ocasion it will last longer. Because my pc freezes i have to hard reset my pc in order to do anything. Every now and then my computer might fail to start correctly upon rebooting or i will get the BSoD (Blue Screen of Death) error. Sometimes i manage to log into windows but then it freezes again before i have even opened anything up.
My cooling is fine with idle temps never exceeding 25 degrees celcius and GPU temps during gaming are between 50-65 on moderate graphic settings.
I believe i have updated as many drivers as i can, and have tried re-installing everything.
I Started by downloaded HWMonitor to check my temperatures and voltages throughout tests.
I then proceeded to download certain stress test programs such as Prime95, Memtest, Burnintest and OC Scanner.
Throughout running these tests nothing unusual appeared to happen and no problems, although i only ever ran these tests for 15-20 minutes at a time, whether that was long enough i dont know.
My GPU temp was about 75 degrees Celsius under max load
I bought new RAM and a new PSU.
I then borrowed my friends GPU.
After uninstalling my GPU and installing his (Asus Gtx 550 ti, not far from mine) i started up all of my games.
I then managed to play multiple games on MAX graphics simultaneously for over an hour without a single problem. Then i uninstalled his GPU and re-installed my own to find i could only play just one game for 10 minutes before freezing again.
Also recently i have been having a new problem where if i leave my computer running for a long time without using it, i come back to find that the screen is black and will not turn on or respond in anyway. When i try clicking and pressing buttons on the keyboard, instead of coming back into windows, my computer turns off then on and then off and then on and then off and then on again for the 3rd time (within about 20 seconds). When it tries to start up for the 3rd time the screen is black and shows no activity, and a light on my mother board lights up next to my GPU indicating that there is a problem with this component preventing boot up.
So im trying to get warranty on my GPU though if send it away and they send it back saying its not faulty i would be charged over 150 dollars.
My specs are as follows
