Hi all,

Last week both my optical drives (CD and DVD) died and were not being
detected by the machine, a DELL Dimension 8400. So I called the DELL
Support line and they took me through a trouble shooting session on
the phone. One of the excersises was to delete some filters from the
current user control set of the registry.

After that, when I booted the machine I found the keyboard not
responding. It works ok during the boot up phase and in BIOS (Setup).
My account is password protected so I can't even log in. I did manage
to log in by copying and pasting the password from another
non-adminitsrative account on the same machine. However even after I
uninstalled the drive for the keyboard and restarted, it still does
not work. In the device manager it shows the keyboard (Microsoft
Natural PS/2 Multimedia Keyboard) with a yellow exclamation mark and
"Devide does not start (Code 10)" message.

I would have reinstalled the OS (XP Professional) if the CD drive was
working, but that is no go. I even downloaded MS Intelli Pro and
installed it but nothing happened.

I have aready tried the following:
1)Uninstall diver and restart
2)Download and install latest driver
3)Plugged in a USB keyboard (same behaviour)

Can any one advice me on how to get my keyboard working? Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff
