Upgrading graphics card

Hello,
it loks like the best current agp graphics option is the radeon 4670hd. However, i am running a p4 3.0ghz 800mhz fsb w/ HT and a intel 865perl mobo. The largest video memory size option in the bios is 256 mbs..does this mean it will not utilize the whole 1gb on the card? also upgrading from 1gb ddr to 3gb system memory..

yes i know this is an older system , however it should run world of warcraft fine for my 9 year old. it already runs it decent with a geforce 6800 and 1gb ram, just lags in large groups, ect. Thanks !

A video card upgrade will not help you. The RAM upgrade may help you though, but doubt by much. Need to upgrade the CPU. If you get lag with the P4 and 6800, turn down the video options. Turn off Shadows if on, and particle effect should be on Low or none. AA and AF should be off or at most set to 2x.

Only thing you can do is get a faster computer with a PCIe slot and a decent dual-core CPU.

You could build yourself a much better new PC for ~$400 if could save that up.

Don't even need nearly that much, a used Core 2 Duo system with a low end gaming card can be found used for under $200.
