hi adam :)

i read about video editing, if you use premiere and After effect, you might want to hear about MPE

they favors NVIDIA DDR5 card
read here about mercury playback engine used by Pr and AE
www.studio1productions.com/Articles/PremiereCS5.htm

radeon has no slight chance because of adobe-nvidia monopoly

If you are doing editing you might want to check if 16gb ram is needed.
I doubt you need that maximus either. Look at something like the extreme4 unless you plan on 3 way cfx. Go with a 750-800w psu for 2 way cfx.

I will probably add more ram in right away or soon in the future depending on how much the price comes out to after power supply.

what are the differences between the regular 7970 the ghz model and the asus matrix platinum? is the matrix platinum just a more overclockable 7970 ghz?

I went with the Maximus because I do plan on overclocking and I heard its more stable and easier to overclock, is this true?

From what I can see it is an overpriced 7970, that will be cooled a little better than the one that I listed but it won't matter because that extra $100 will not warrant the boost in performance. Also the card will get unstable eventually.
