I'm trying to decide which one to upgrade to from my GTX 560 ti SC. I have a 1920x1080 monitor and I use this pc for gaming mostly BF3 and COD4. So which one should I get 670 or 7970?

The 7970 now clearly outperforms the 670 in BF3, so I'd agree with abbadon.

for horsepower the 7970 would be your best option concurred. There are reasons to go with the 670 but I don't want to get in a forum fight with every AMD fanboy :p  I think the better argument would be the battle of the flagships the 680 versus the 7970 which with the 7970 cheaper and lately faster because of drivers makes the 680 void.

HD7970

I bought mine a while back and I love it, it's far better than my old HD 5750.

over the GTX 670, you get an extra GB of memory if that means anything to you + the free games.

the games are the only difference.

seriously, who is going to notice a 3% performance difference? who is going to sit down in front of a game and notice the difference between 68.2 and 71.8 fps?

no one.

so under general circumstances the 670 and 7970 are equal. now if you want to throw in the gigahertz edition, keep in mind those cost 20% MORE than a 670. (oh yeah the 670s generally are 7%-10% cheaper than the 7970s too.)

so what cards was the OP considering?

that is what will make the difference unless they are going to actually play the free games.

I would go with GTX 670, if you play at 1920x1080 then 3 GB you won't use at all. Actually 2 GB is more than enough.

GTX 670 uses less power and has a high clock effeftivness 6.008 gHz vs 5.500 GHz.

GTX 670 has boost which Means you won't have to overclock My gtx 660 boosts above 1100 mHz from 980.

GTX 670 supports Physx, FXAA and TXAA.

There is a reason AMD is dropping their prices so much. ;)

I am comparing:

7970: http://m.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-...

670: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083Y6MV6?ie=UTF8&for...

I change the 7970 ^ so if make sure you see the one I just put up. I also just changed the 670 so look at both of them again to make sure.

7970 obviously. Its seriously fast in games, and when it comes to OpenCL and GLSL, it absolutely dominates over Nvidia. Also it has much more memory.

that is an excellent 670, only an asus DCII top bests it as far as 670s are concerned.
Review: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW

compared to a more "vanilla" 7970 . .gotta say FTW.
