Hey everyone, sorry if this is kind of a noob question, but I'm a bit confused on this one.

So I was looking into getting this: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1683... for LAN party uses.

Now, my question is, will I be able to connect all these computers to the switch, and then the switch to my internet (cable modem), giving all computers on the switch internet access? Cause right now my 5 port D-link just aint doing the job, as far as ports go.

Thanks in advance everyone! :)  Sorry again if this has been answered else where already.

A switch will connect all the computers to each other but it won't be able to serve the internet to all the computers. You need a router for that. The router will remember what computer requested what from the internet and transport the packets to the IP address of the various computers making the specific internet request. A switch alone cannot perform that task. Google DHCP to learn more about the internal function of routers.
