Will an PCI-E 3.0 Card fit in an PCI-E 2.0 slot?

Hi all.
I currently have an old card and looking to upgrade it. I am currently looking at the ASUS 7770 and the only problem is that it is it a PCI-E 3.0 card and my current card is is a PCI-E 2.0 card.

CURRENT PC SPECS
Intel Q9400 @ 2.66 GHZ.
ATi 4650 HD
4x 4GB Kingston DDR3 memory 1333mhz.
500GB Seagate Sata disk
ASUS P5P43TD-PRO

Just wondering if this card will work with my mother board.

Yes, it'll fit and it'll work just fine. There'd be a sub 1% performance drop, but that's no big deal.

It will work. PCI-E is backward compatible.

Also, make sure that you power supply have at least 1 6-pin PCI-E power connector. Using adapter is not reccommended, unless your PSU is capable to power the card.

Yes PCI-E 3.0s are backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.0s

yes it will work fine no problem there every pcie is forward and backward compatible with each other

there is only 1-2-3 fps improvement in games in pcie 3.0

PCIE 3.0 is backward compatibility with PCI E 2.0. What is your current PSU? It should be 550 W with one pci. e power connector. Don't use lower the 550 w and it should be
a branded one.

It doesn't take a 550W PSU to power OP's system with a 7770 unless it's a crappy 550W. A good 430W-450W such as an Antec EarthWatts/Basiq 430W, Antec VP-450, or XFX 450W will do the job excellently.
